| Personal History | Born to a family of teachers, Logan learned at an early age his love for reading. School growing up was a mixed bag for him. His parents pushed him hard, which he was mostly successful, however the push often ruined the enjoyment of learning. It wouldn't be until his sophomore year of high school he found a subject that he enjoyed that his parents didn't push him on, philosophy. From the ancients to the contemporaries, he found the theory and attempt to practice fascinating. Reading became a sacred space for him. When he couldn't read, he would go out into nature to stretch his legs. Even though his parents wanted him to follow in their foot steps, Logan couldn't see himself staying in the area and teaching. He had a curiosity that needed to see more places, a need to match his philosophical expansion. He looked towards the nomadic lifestyle, and found it with Starfleet. From the moment he stepped onto the Academy's grounds, he found the eclectic surroundings as pure enjoyment and thought provoking compared to his home town. He landed on Operations as a speciality, enjoying the efficiency of the work. The streamline nature of the work jived with his mind, like a philosophy for the ship. Graduating in the top 40% of his class, he didn't get his first billing pick. He ended up staying planet side for an extra few months before his ship was within range of transportation. His first ship he quickly found the juxtaposition of what he learned in school and what the real world was like. He found it difficult to work for some officers, who he felt were not doing their job to the full potential. His quieter approach, and ability to ask questions and work well with others allowed him to develop a name for himself as a strong worker, even if he disagreed with many of his superior officers. With reluctance, he embraced the leadership track and advancement. After years of working in Starfleet, the bureaucracy finally wore through him. After much deliberation, he finally resigned his command, having lost the joy and purpose he once found in Starfleet. Needing work, and without a home, he finally found himself back onboard a vessel. A friend of friend hired him, bringing him into the civilian fleet world. With his prior experience, he was given a vessel and put to work. |
